A Webinar on “Skill, Entrepreneurship and Employability: Challenges and Opportunities” Held at GGSCW-26

Chandigarh, August 04 2021:- The Placement Cell of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, organised a webinar on "Skill, Entrepreneurship and Employability: Challenges and Opportunities" in collaboration with ICFAI Business School, on August 3, 2021. The speaker for the event was Prof. Umesh Kalra, from ICFAI Business School, Gurgaon, who has had an illustrious career in various capacities with the Government of India.

The main objective of the talk was to apprise students of the current situation in India regarding employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Prof. Kalra discussed the gap in requirement and supply of skilled labour in our country. He stressed on the mantra to remain relevant in today's changing market/ economy: "Get skill, re-skill and upskill." He further explained Big Ticket Projects in our country which will generate employment opportunities and how the students can skill themselves to take advantage of such projects. He motivated women students by discussing how the government is promoting women entrepreneurship by providing training, loans and other support mechanisms to them.

The Principal, Dr Jatinder Kaur, appreciated the efforts of the Placement Cell in enlightening the students about these vital skills.
