Online Talk on Pharmaceutical Drugs Held in Desh Bhagat University

Chandigarh April 19, 2021:-   An online expert talk on Instrumental Methods of Pharmaceutical Drugs Characterization and Evaluation held in Desh Bhagat University. It was organized by Placebo Club, Faculty of Pharmacy, DBU. The speaker of the lecture was Dr. Manoj Kumar Gautam, Assistant manager, Biocon Pharma Limited, Bangalore. The objective of the lecture was to describe theoretical understanding, practical execution, and critical evaluation of pharmaceutical instrumental chemistry principles.

The speaker was welcomed digitally by Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor Desh Bhagat University and Prof. B. D. Dhiman, Principal, School of Pharmacy, and Ms. Khushpal, Principal, S. Lal Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy, Desh Bhagat University.

The speaker explained in detail the drug analysis that reveals identification, characterization, and determination of the drugs in dosage forms and biological fluids, etc. He also added that the number of drugs introduced into the market has been increasing at an alarming rate. These drugs may be either new entities in the market or partial structural modification of the existing drugs. He also described that spectral techniques measure electromagnetic radiation, which is either absorbed or emitted by the sample, for example, UV visible spectroscopy, I. R. spectroscopy, N.M.R., E.S.R. spectroscopy, flame photometry, fluorimetry, etc.

All the faculty members and students of the School of Pharmacy and S. Lal Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy learned a lot from this excellent talk. At the end of the event, Dr. Puja Gulati delivered a small token of thanks to our valuable guests.
