Chandigarh 11th May:- To ensure law & order and to maintain peace, policeman & officials should perform their duty alertly & dedicatedly and a close watch should be kept on anti social elements. This was stated by Inspector General Patiala Zone- 1 Paramraj Singh Umranagal while presiding over a meeting with Policemen and officials at meeting hall of PCA Stadium Mohali. During the meeting DIG Roopnagar. Gursharan Singh Sandhu, SSP SAS Nagar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, SSP Fatehgarh Sahib Harcharan Singh Bhullar, SSP Roopnagar Varinder Pal Singh and other officials were present.
Paramraj Singh Umranagal said that for effectiveness of campaign against drug menace, cooperation and contribution from general public should be ensured and no relaxation should be given to drug peddlers.
He said that general public especially the youth should be made aware about the ill effects of drugs so that a new and healthy society could be formed. He said that each and every effort should be done with full strictness to prevent drug smuggling form neighbouring states. During this he also directed the police officials to perform with full honesty, dedication and to serve the public with full enthusiasm so that a clean administration could be ensured. He also directed to increase the no. of night patrolling and check Nakas. Earlier IGP Paramraj Singh Umranagal received guard of honour from Punjab Police Jawans.
During this SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar apprised IGP Paramraj Singh Umranagal about the arrangements done by district police to ensure complete law and order. He said that night patrolling frequency has been increased and 46 victims have been arrested by registering 30 cases for drug peddling. He said that from the arrested victims' drugs like 59 kilo 300 gram of Poppy husk , Heroin 298 gram, Smack 18 Gram, drugs 140 bottles, liquid drugs 1 ltrs 500 ml, Powdered drugs 45 gram, 3.5 Kg Ganja, Drugs capsule/ tablets 9844 nos., drugs injections 61 nos. have been recovered. He said that during the campaign the victims have been arrested under Section 82, 83, CRPC 05 & under section 299 CRPC 23 PO.
