Role and Importance of Pharmacists in pharmacovigilance Discussed on 2nd Day of Training & Awareness Program on Pharmacovigilance

Chandigarh 09th December:-   The 2nd day of the ongoing Training & awareness program on pharmacovigilance  began in  PGI, Chandigarh, with a case series on statin use and ADRs caused by statins ,a possible hope for signal generation by Prof and Head department of pharmacology LHMC New Delhi, Dr. H.S.  Rehan. It was followed by Good documentation practices in pharmacovigilance from industry perspective by Dr. Chenniappan from Sun pharmaceuticals. He also discussed pharmacovigilance aspect of ayurvedic herbal drugs.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Nigah from PGI, Chandigarh talked on Role and importance of pharmacists in pharmacovigilance. He also shared his experiences while working in PGI. It was followed by Role and importance of Medical record officials in pharmacovigilance by Karthikeyan, from PGI. He also discussed record office departmental role in pharmacovigilance activity. The role and importance of nurses in pharmacovigilance was elaborated by Dr. Sandhya Ghai from National institute of nursing education, PGI. 

Rishi kumar from NCC Ghaziabad gave a demonstration on ADR mobile app.  It was followed by discussion ADR monitoring centre technical associates with national pharmacopoeia commission technical associates. Many practical problems, issues faced by ADR monitoring centres in periphery were discussed. 

The day was wound up by another interactive session based on consumer, clinician, pharmacist and politician role linkage.
