Chandigarh 22nd December:- A workshop for creating awareness in Skill Development under ESDM was held today at Hotel Shivalikview. Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Vijay Dev, was the Chief Guest along with Dr. S. B. Deepak Kumar, Secretary (IT), UT Chandigarh as the Guest of Honour. The workshop was attended by various dignitaries from the Punjab Government, Haryana Government, Chandigarh Administration, and Government of India.
Dr Ashwini Kumar Sharma, Director General NIELIT, Raj Kamal Chaudhury, Secretary, IT, Punjab and Chief Guest, Vijay Dev, lauded the efforts put in by NIELIT for creating awareness under ESDM scheme. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the Punjab State in skilling manpower.
During the workshop Adviser to the Administrator, Vijay Dev, said that he is sure that the youth of the region can benefit hugely from this endeavour of the Government of India and it will create a lot of employment opportunities for them. I am also confident that the UT would meet its target of training 8,000 candidates in the span of the scheme. Adviser also agreed to consider the request of DG NIELIT for making CCC Course as mandate for employment in Government jobs similar to other States for better roll out of e-Governance Project. Adviser also agreed to consider allotment of land to NIELIT in lieu of land allotted to NIELIT at Manimajra.
DG NIELIT, Dr Ashwini Kumar Sharma during his address at the function said that there are 31 Regional Centres of NIELIT all over India where this scheme is being run, besides its reach to the beneficiaries through our 250+ Accredited Partners for the scheme specifically." He also shared that there are 64 courses in various verticals under the 5 Levels of skill development out of which 23 belong to the NIELIT kitty. NIELIT Chandigarh is conducting the ESDM courses thru its Training Partners in Punjab, Haryana and UT of Chandigarh.
The most popular courses of NIELIT are the Course in Computer Concept (CCC) and the NIELIT O Level course. To facilitate the model of making one in every Indian family e-literate NIELIT has accredited over 900 partners across the country. THE CCC/BCC courses equip a person to use a computer to undertake e-Governance transactions and other basic activities like use of e-mail and Internet browsing.
In the recent pats NIELIT has diversified into courses in new technologies such as ESDM, GIS, Cyber Security, IPR, cloud computing, e-Governance, Digital Marketing etc. NIELIT has extended its reach throughout the country through the PPP model.
During workshop, SPIC signed MOU with NIELIT to implement ESDM Scheme in Union Territory of Chandigarh.
