Chandigarh 13th November:- To provide direct access to the handloom weavers to market the products to consumers in various cities of India, National Handloom Development Corporation is organizing Silk Fab exhibition in Kisan Bhawan Sector 35 from 13th November to 26th of November.The participants in the exhibition are from various State Government Bodies/Apex Societies, Primarily Handloom Weavers Societies and Handloom Agencies. 108 agencies belonging to 15 states are participating. The exhibition has participation from weavers who are recipients of National Award for design. The exhibition is inaugurated by Zaheen Ahmed Ansari,Senior weaver from Madhya Pradesh.
While giving more detail about the exhibition Hari Mohan Sharma, Exhibition Incharge, said that the uniqueness of silk products such as Pochampalli, Paithani, Kanjivaram, Jamdani, Baluchari, and Ikkat, to name a few attracts customers across the globe with exclusives weaves, designs and traditional motifs. Through these exhibitions, handloom agencies not only market their products at reasonable rates but also get to know customers' choice with regard to colour, design and weaving for future improvement of the product. He further said that the main motto behind the exhibition is not only to support and promote weavers but also to bring all types of silk products under one roof. Tusser Silk from Bundelkhand is the first choice of the tricity residents.
Hari Mohan Sharma said that the range starts from the silk products are from Rs.1200/- to Rs.90000/-. He said that in the last exhibition they did the business of Rs.5 Crore and this time think to achieve more than that. He added that 20% special discounts are given on all the silk products.
