Health Promotion Manual for National Health Programs Relesed:Developed in 3 Languages

Chandigarh 08th November:- In order to strengthen health promotion and preventive components in National Health Programs, a health promotion manual has been developed in 3 languages, i.e. English, Hindi and Punjabi under Integrated Health Promotion Project being undertaken in districts Hoshiarpur in Punjab and Ambala in Haryana as part of ICMR project by School of Public Health  with participation of National Health Mission of Punjab and Haryana. The Health Promotion Manual for National Health Programs was released by Dr. K K Talwar Advisor, Health, Govt; of Punjab; Hussan Lal, IAS Secretary, Health and Medical Education and Mission Director, National Health Mission, Punjab, in the presence of Dr. Bhag Mal, Director Health Services Punjab, Prof JS Thakur, from PGI and DMCs and  Programme officers of NCD programmes from different districts at  State Institute of Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW), Mohali. The manual is a comprehensive guide covering the risk factors of communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases and RCH issues such as healthy diet, physical activity, tobacco use, alcohol use, substance use, stress, safe sex, road safety, personal hygiene, safe water and sanitation, immunization and oral hygiene. According to Dr. JS Thakur, Professor of Community Medicine, PGI, and PI of the project, the manual has been developed for the training and as a resource material for health workers, counsellors, ANMs and ASHAs for effective implementation of the national health programs at district and state level and will also be useful for the general public.
