Adviser Starts Laying Work of Sewerage System at Hallo Majra

Chandigarh 05th November:- Vijay Kumar Dev, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today started the laying work of providing Sewerage System in Deep Complex, Hallomajra, Chandigarh. Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Mayor, Mrs. Bhawna Garg, IAS, Commissioner, Mrs. Gurbax Rawat, Deputy Mayor, MC, Smt. Jannat Jahan Ul-Haq (Naina), area councillor, Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer, N.P. Sharma, Superintending Engineer (B&R), other councillors and officers, senior residents of the area and prominent citizens from Chandigarh were present on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, the Adviser said that to provide basic amenities for the citizens of Chandigarh is prime duty of Administration & Municipal Corporation. He said that with the provision of Sewerage System, the people of the area will get big relief from overflowing drains and sewer blockages in future. He further said that Hallomajra is located in the entry of City beautiful and it will be beautified accordingly. He said that one week long cleanliness drive will be launched under "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" to clean up all over area. He also urged the people to share their demands and requirements with the Administration & Municipal Corporation and assured that they will be considered as per the rules & regulations on priority basis.

He assured the local residents that need based services will be improved in villages and colonies at par with the sectors. He also appreciated the work of engineering department of MC saying that officers and officials of the department are now working more efficiently and connecting with people to resolve their need based difficulties. He also appreciated the dedication of MC Councillors for participating in the developmental works of city above party lines.

Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Mayor said that there was long outstanding demand of the residents of the Deep Complex Hallomajra for providing basic amenities such as water supply and sewerage as the residents are facing lot of hardship due to lack of these basic amenities. She said that the work will be completed by the end of this financial year i.e. 31 March, 2016 with an estimated amount of Rs. 591 lacs. She said that most of the sewerage so generated will be taken to the Sewerage Treatment Plant near 3 BRD for its treatment as it has enouch capacity to bear this extra load. This sewerage system will cater about 1150 residents of the Deep Complex and 12 Kms sewerage line will be laid.
