New Public School Hold Inter School singing Competition

Chandigarh 01st August:-  To promote and motivate students to take interest in classical singing, an Inter School Semi Classical Vocal Competition was organized at The New Public School, Chandigarh. 25 Schools from the tricity participated in this competition. The students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. It was a treat to the ears to hear the melodious voice of the talented budding singers. Vikhyat from Manav Mangal School Sec 11 Panchkula declared winner for the Competition, whereas Rashi Kaushal from Mount Carmel Sec 47 Chandigarh declared 1st Runner up, Mukul Gill from Bhavan Vidyalaya Panchkula declared 2nd Runner up and the Consolation Prize was awarded to the Aayush Sharma, Stepping Stones School Sec 37 D Chandigarh.

The jury for the competition comprised of Gurpreet Singh, MA, M.Phil Music Vocal, Sangeet Visharad – Serving with GCG, Sector 11, Chandigarh; Vikram Singh, M.A., M.Phil Music Vocal-Radio and TV Artist; and Jagir Singh M.A., M.Phil Music Vocal, Singer and Music Composer.

Preet Mohinder Singh, Deputy General Manager, Punjab Agriculture Co-operative Bank, was the Chief Guest. In his address to the students he said that singing & Dance are the hidden language of the soul' and is also considered an act of creation. All classical forms of art are an important source of not only aesthetic values but also life, mind, soul and spiritual values. It is the awareness of these values which we envision and aim to spread through our Heritage of classical music and dance amongst the youth of today.

While applauding the singing talent of the students & congratulating the music teachers for putting great efforts to train the students Principal New Public School R D Singh said that the main purpose of the competition was to bring out the hidden talent of the students.
