Rs. 10 Crore 52 Lacs 14 Thousand Spend for Providing Sewerage in 7 Villages of SAS Nagar: Pandher

Chandigarh 05th July:- With a motive to facilitate rural population with basic urban facilities & to ensure drinking warer & sanitation facilities in the villages, various schemes have been initiated by the State Govt. As such, Rs. 10 crore 52 lacs 14 thousands have been spent for providing sewerage scheme in 7 villages of SAS Nagar. Besides providing sewerage in the villages, treatment plant to treat the sewage water has also been established from where the treated water could be used for irrigational purposes. Stating this Executive Engineer Water Supply & Sanitation Department (DWSS) Sukhminder Singh Pandher said that the initial phase of providing sewerage in 7 villages of SAS Nagar has been completed successfully.

Sukhminder Singh Pandher said that Rs. 122.96 for providing sewerage in village Bhajoli, Rs. 143.67 lacs for sewerage in village Jaulan Kalan, Rs. 181.75 lacs for village Batta, Rs. 121.49 lacs for providing sewerage in village Bhagsi, Rs. 109.28 lacs for village Fatehgarh and Rs. 186.26 lacs for providing sewerage in village Mukandpur has been spent. He said that sewerage treatment plants have also been established in these villages. He said that sewerage connections to individual household are being provided. With the individual sewerage connection, open defecation will be controlled and in turn it will help in making clean & green environment. Sukhminder Singh Pandher said that with the individual water supply scheme for each village, soon SAS Nagar will become the first district having separate water supply scheme for each village. He said that during the current financial year Rs. 12 crore 91 lacs 97 thousands will be spent for providing water supply scheme in 27 villages. Sh. Pandher said that under National Rural Drinking Water Program Rs. 3 crore 61 lacs 49 thousand will be spent for providing water supply schemes in 15 villages and in during 2ndphase of World Bank Project, Rs. 2 crore 69 lacs 24 thousand will be spent for providing water supple scheme in 5 villages. Besides this, under Punjab Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Sector Improvement Project Rs. 6 crore 61 lacs 24 thousand will be spent for providing water works in 7 villages of district SAS Nagar.
