Chandigarh 09th July:- The Passing out Parade of the 16th batch of recruit constables comprising 34 recruits was held at the Parade ground of RTC, Police lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh. Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Advisor to Administrator, UT Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on this occasion and took the Salute. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, UT, Chandigarh, Arun Grover, Vice Chancellor, Punjab University, Chandigarh, R.P. Upadhyay, IPS, Inspector General of Police, A.S. Cheema, IPS, DIG, UT, Chandigarh, Dr. Sukhchain Singh, SSP, UT, Chandigarh, Maneesh Chowdhry, SSP Traffic & Security and R.N. Meena, Commandant IRB, all DSPs/Inspectors of Chandigarh Police were also present during this ceremony.
30 male and 4 female (total 34) recruits were passed out. For excellent performance in indoor and outdoor activities, Constable Harpreet Kaur 1981/CP stood All-Round 1st and also 1st in Indoor Examination, Constable Rajan Kumar 3671/CP All Round 2nd & also 2nd in Indoor Examination, Const. Ashok Kumar 1964/CP 1st in Outdoor & 1st in Firing test, Const. Raman Kumar 3687/CP, Const. Rohit Sharma 1995/CP & Const. Devender Kumar 1994/CP 2nd in Outdoor Tests and Const. Devender Kumar 1994/CP 2nd in Firing Tests. The Chief Drill Instructor (CDI) of Recruit Training Centre, Insp. Dharampal was also feted by the Adviser for his outstanding contribution in the field of imparting training at RTC, who is proceeding on retirement after attaining the age of superannuation on 31st July 2015.
R.P. Upadhyaya, IPS, Inspector General of Police, UT Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest and presented a report on the training of these recruits. He stated that these 34 recruit constables comprising of 30 male and 04 female constables were provided adequate exposure in the fields of Criminal law, Medical Jurisprudence, VIP Security, Human Rights, etc. They have also been imparted training in Mob Control, Weapon handling, Yoga, P.T. and Parade. Special workshops were also organized on gender sensitization and behavior with the public.
Speaking on this occasion Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Advisor to Administrator, UT Chandigarh, appreciated the hard work put in by these recruits during their training. He congratulated the R.P. Upadhyaya, IPS, Inspector General of Police, UT Chandigarh for the work of Chandigarh Police in providing security to the City Beautiful inspite of the growing challenges. He said Chandigarh Police is one of the best police force in India and promised to extend full support by Chandigarh Administration for the welfare of police personnel.
Besides this, The Chief Guest, Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator flagged off newly purchase vehicles i.e. 69 motorcycles (48 TVS Apache RTR 180cc & 21 Royal Enfield Bullet Motorcycles) 1 force traveler Ambulance and 1 Swaraj Mazda Bus (32 seater) ready to be inducted in Chandigarh Police.
