Chandigarh 17th June:- Six photographers of the tri-city have been conferred Dr B S Memorial Photography Award on World Nature Photography Day on June 15. The award has been instituted by Grewal Eye Institute to promote nature photography. The photographers shortlisted for the award are Sarabjit Pandher, Vikas Kahol, Subhash Sapru, Sanjay Kaushal, Vikram Bansal and Pradeep Mahajan. The award ceremony was held at the auditorium of Grewal Eye Institute.
Dr S P S Grewal –CEO, Grewal Eye Institute said that the award has been instituted in the memory of his father Dr B S Grewal. Dr Grewal said that the event would be hosted at national level from 2016 and entries would be invited from amateur and professional photographers from across the country.
The first Nature Photography Day was celebrated on June 15, 2006. This event was created to emphasize nature photography and to advocate conservation and protection of plants, wildlife, and landscapes around the world. It is now observed every year on June 15. Photographers involved in Nature Photography naturally develop love for mother nature. By honouring Nature Photographers, we intend to spread the message to love and preserve the mother nature.
Nature photography generally refers to photography that is taken outdoors and that displays natural elements such as wildlife, plants, landscapes, and close-ups of natural scenes and textures. It typically puts a strong emphasis on the aesthetic value of the photograph.
