Chandigarh 28th May:- The students of Fashion Marketing & Management (FMM) & Garment Manufacturing Technology (GMT) departments of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT ) , Mohali presented their final degree projects at NIIFT, campus today. The jury evaluating these projects included, Shashi Kanwal, Head Marketing, Groz & Beckert Asia Pvt Ltd and Neeraj, GM-R.B Knits, Ludhiana.
The research work was a part of the project, which provided a challenging platform to the students to extend and demonstrate the analytical skills necessary for decision making. This year total of 6 and 9 presentations were showcased from FMM and GMT respectively. The presentations focused on different areas like enhancing production, developing processes to meet deadlines, reducing the high labor cost, reducing delay due to unskilled labor , analyzing consumer demand, fashion forecasting and creating stories of web blogs etc.
FMM program has been designed to fulfill the requirements of the retail sector where as GMT fulfill the need of garment industry. The students worked in conjunction with the known names of the industry for a period of three months. In this period they found out areas of concern thereby giving suggestions, implementing and helping the units to resolve the problems being faced by the factory or management.
The students worked with export houses and retail units like Shahi Exports, Faridabad , Nahar Spinning Mills, Ludhiana ,B.L International Delhi, Gaurav International, Delhi, Orient Craft,Gurgaon, Radhnik Export, Delhi,SPL International, Delhi, Embee Exports, Delhi, Benetton, Ruposo.com, Cilory.com, ITC Wills Lifestyle etc
K S Brar, Director, NIIFT said that the work of a teacher was to stimulate apparently ordinary people to unusual effort. The presentations made by the students gave an insight into a deep analysis of market conditions and productive competitiveness.
Inderjit Singh, Registrar, NIIFT said that the students have done a good job in helping industry with their ideas and solutions.
