Grewal Eye Institute Announces Eye Care Welfare Scheme for Senior Citizens

Chandigarh 16th May:- Grewal Eye Institute (GEI), announced the roll out of a series of highly subsidized eye care offers for the members of Senior Citizens' Welfare Association, MHC, Manimajra. On this occasion the members were also enlightened with eye care tips for old age.  In order to make the event entertaining, a cookery contest was organized for the senior citizens and the winners were awarded with prizes. Beside this many elderly women were honored to commemorate Mother's Day. The cookery contest was adjudged by the "Zee TV Khana Khazana" fame celebrity nutritionist, Mrs. Sarita Khurana. She also gave hygienic and healthy food tips to the senior citizens. The advisor to The Administrator, Vijay Kumar Dev was the esteemed Chief Guest at the occasion who commenced the Lamp Lighting ceremony, honored the mothers and awarded the winners of cookery contest. Vijay Kumar Dev, lauded the occasion which embraced the eye care of senior citizens, for showing respect to them and organising fun-filled activities. He also expressed hope that GEI will continue organizing such events in future too.

Around 150 members from the Senior Citizens' Welfare Association participated in the program. Despite holding a masters degree in instrumental music "Zee TV Khana Khazana" fame celebrity nutritionist Sarita Khurana, who played the judge for cookery contest, gave beneficial nutrition and household tips to senior citizens. On this occasion Grewal Eye Institute took the initiative to honor mothers from the Senior Citizens' Welfare Association owing to all their efforts and immense love towards their children.

Dr. SPS Grewal, CEO, Grewal Eye Iinstitute, said that senior citizens are the backbone of the society. It's our responsibility to serve them and take care of them. It is no help, it is a sacred duty. We are pleased that we got the privilege of serving the elderly. We are extremely thankful to Mr. Vijay Dev, advisor of Chandigarh Administrator for gracing the occasion with his presence and boosting our enthusiasm. We thank Mrs. Sarita Khurana, the famous nutritionist and Amrit Dhingra, President, CHB Modern Complex Flats Residents Welfare for ensuring the success of this program. We always endeavor to continue such activities so as to increase the awareness regarding eye care. Also, the elders will no longer feel lonely and we can come up with new ideas for their healthy entertainment.

The institute keeps conducting various eye camps, public education seminars and symposiums for the Continuous Medical Education of Ophthalmologists, on a regular basis, and its NGO "Roshni" aims at assisting poor eye patients in need of treatment.
