OPTOMETRISTS ASSOCIATION CHANDIGARH CELEBRATES WORLD OPTOMETRY DAY 2015

Chandigarh 22nd March:- Optometrists Association Chandigarh (OAC) has conducted a Continuing Optometric Education program titled "Art of Artificial Eye" at Advance Eye Centre, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh to celebrate the World Optometry Day in Chandigarh. COE program was well attended by around 70 Optometrist professionals from the Institutions like PGI, GMCH 32, GMSH 16, Sohana Eye Hospital and other renowned clinics of the tri-city region of Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula. The event was started with the welcome address by the Senior Optometrist & President of Optometrists Association Chandigarh, Optom.

The CME commenced with a talk by the Optom. Shishupal Singh on 'Prosthesis Revaluation" and "Fabrication & Reverse Painting", followed by Optom. Subhash Aggarwal on "Clinical Evaluation". Optom. Anil Kumar Kalia, Senior Optometrist from Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32 delivered a talk on "Care and Maintenance of Ocular Prosthesis" followed byan inspirational lecture on "Art of seeing with one eye" by Optom. Nirmal Singh.

All Optometrists feel that public needs to know about "Optometrist" and "Optometry". Despite thousands of optometrists in India, the common man does not know "Who is an Optometrist. As per World Council of Optometry (WCO), Optometrists are "the primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, the detection/diagnosis and management of diseases in the eye, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system.

In the end, General Secretary OAC, Nirmal Singh read the vote of thanks and highlighted the aims and activities of the Association.
