CII Welcomes Punjab’s Welfare Oriented Budget

Chandigarh 18th March:- CII welcomed the Punjab State Annual Budget for 2014 -15. Complementing the Finance Minister & state Government for presenting a balanced and welfare oriented Budget, S S Bhogal, Chairman, CII Punjab State Council & Managing Partner, Bhogal Sales Corporation remarked that, the focus of the budget seems more towards Rural development with emphasis towards development of Industry, Agriculture, Rural Water Supply & Sanitation, Education, Skill Development & Health. A new scheme 'Mukh Mantri Pendu Vikas Yojana' (Chief Minister Rural Development Plan) will be launched for providing basic amenities in villages. Interest subvention scheme – Entrepreneurship development programme to promote future enterpreneurs is being launched. Mr Bhogal hoped that Government will do well, if it implements the provisions of its Budget 2015 -16.

Sandeep Jain, Vice Chairman, CII Punjab State Council & Executive Director complimented the state Government's on the setting up of the Punjab Skill Development Mission has been set up in line with the National Skill Development Policy, 2009. He also appreciated the Government's intent to develop 22 Multi Skill Development Centres (MSDC) would be set up in collaboration with NSDC one each at district headquarter ITI and the first one being setup in Ludhiana. Keeping the focus on rural development setting up of skill training centres, 2000 for women and 500 for men across rural areas in the state to improve employability and rural entrepreneurship. He hoped this would go long way in creating productive manpower as per Industry requirements and narrowing the Industry academia gap.

D L Sharma, Past Chairman CII Punjab State Council & Director Vardhman Textiles Limited lauded the state Government's focus towards addressing the issues of Drug de addiction and implementation of The Punjab State Cancer and Drug Addiction Treatment Infrastructure Fund Act, 2013 where Rs.172 crore collected for creation of cancer and drug de-addiction treatment infrastructure. Operationalization of five state-of the art 50 bedded drug deaddiction centres at Bathinda, Faridkot, Patiala, Jalandhar and Amritsar. D L Sharma advocated that the Governments intent to tackle the issue to waterlogging and declining water table issue and focus towards governance reforms which included setting up of 2174 Unified Service Delivery Centres – Sewa  Kendras (1750 in rural areas and 424 in urban areas) which would be providing 50 services to citizens at their doorsteps which would be operational by 1st week of July. He supported that it will help in creating a smooth Interface between the Government and its Citizens.

 

Pikender Pal Singh, Regional Director, CII NR complimented the Finance Minister for doing a made a remarkable effort to balance development and commitments bearing in mind the given fiscal constraints scenario. He appreciated the Minister's intent to go for financial consolidation besides the setting up of Medicity which would house many of the best known names in healthcare and focus on Strengthening of Rural Infrastructure and Skill Development and promoting Entrepreneur Development which would help the state to grow.
