Mohali 10th October:- Toilet blocks constructed in the markets of SAS Nagar are the basic facility which has been provided to the shopkeepers & the general public, will be got renovated. As such, Rs. 88 lacs will be spent for the renovation work of 40 toilets. Stating this, Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that renovation work for 28 toilets worth Rs. 60 lacs have already been completed and 5 workers for maintaining cleanliness in each toilet block have been deputed.
Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said the planning to beautify the SAS Nagar district is being implemented physically & necessary efforts required for the same will be ensured. He said that toilet blocks have been constructed by GMADA & the operation & maintenance of these toilet blocks is being carried out by Municipal Corporation. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that remaining 12 toilet blocks will also be renovated soon & Rs. 28 lacs will be spent for the same. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that renovation work completed by Municipal Council for the 28 toilet blocks will be maintained by Deva Swimming Institute and for ensuring cleanliness in these toilet blocks, workers stands appointed by the institute. He said that Rs. 13 lacs 50 thousand are being spent every month for operation & maintenance of these toilet blocks. Tejinder Pal Singh sidhu said that the general public & shopkeepers were facing a lot of problems due to bad and unhygienic conditions of these toilet blocks. He said that after renovation of these toilet blocks, the problems being face by the public have been got removed completely. He appealed the general public & shopkeepers to cooperate for the sanitation campaign initiated in the district, as without their cooperation, the campaign cannot be made successful.
