MC organise Cleanliness Drive at Sector 32 & 33

Chandigarh 16th October:- In continuity of "Swachchha Bharat  Abhiyan" the area falling under Sector 32 & 33 was cleared  off garbage,  horticulture  waste, malba   and other waste materials today.

The Abhiyan was started by Smt. Heera Negi, Senior Deputy Mayor & area councillor and other leaders also participated. A pledge was administered to the residents to keep oneself clean, to devote time for cleanliness of one's house/shop and surrounding areas by the Senior Deputy Mayor.  Health Education was given to the residents about safe disposal of Municipal Solid Waste.  The door to door collectors were instructed to deposit the Municipal Solid Waste in the Sehaj Safai kendras/ demarcated garbage containers.  It was insisted upon not to litter in the streets/open spaces in order to maintain the sanitation of their area for which their cooperation is of utmost importance.

This drive was launched in addition to regular sanitation by deploying   additional Safaikaramcharies in small groups under the close supervision of the area Health Supervisor/ Chief Sanitary Inspector for getting the public places/ open spaces etc. swept.   Extra machinery i.e. road  Sweeping  machines, Dumper placers, Front End loaders and Tractor Trolleys were deployed to make the area free of garbage.  Five of tractor trolleys were deployed and each tractor trolley made three trips to the Dumping Ground. The polythenes, scattered papers and other rags were also picked up by using specially made pokers. Lime dusting was done at all vulnerable places to avoid fly nuisance.
