PGI Holds Medical Education Programme on Anaesthesia for Organ Transplantation Surgery

Chandigarh 17th April:-- The Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive
Care, PGIMER is holding a one day Continuing Medical Education
Programme on Anaesthesia for Organ Transplantation Surgery on 18th
April, 2014. Experienced consultants from the All India Institute of
Medical Sciences, Sir Gangaram Hospital, Medanta Institute, Gurgaon,
and Institute for Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi and Global
Hospital, Hyderabad and other neibouring institutes are participating
as faculty for the CME. More than 200 delegates will be attending
this CME. These CME programmes are conducted biannually in the
Department for the postgraduate trainees and senior residents of
PGIMER and other colleges in the region, and for interested
anaestheiologists from the private sector. Transplant medicine is
complex and needs specialised knowledge, skills and ability to work in
a multi-disciplinary team involving medical, surgical and anaesthetic
specialists along with psychologists and social workers. The programme
includes talks on periooperative management of transplantation of
heart, kidney and liver. There is a plenary session on the legal
framework for organ transplantation in our country. Besides
motivating residents to consider this area as a career choice, it also
attempts to publicise the important developments, and increase
awareness in the medical community.
