PGI Holds Management Development Programme

Chandigarh 22nd April:--To Strengthen Health System for senior
healthcare functionaries working under different state governments,
the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, has sponsored
a two week Management Development Programme (MDP) . This programme is
being conducted at PGIMER, Chandigarh by the Department of Hospital
Administration, PGIMER. The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Vini
Mahajan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Health and Family
Welfare, Govt of Punjab, in the presence of Prof. Y.K. Chawla,
Director, PGIMER and Prof. A. K. Gupta, Medical Superintendent-cum-
Prof. & Head Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER. The
programme has been conceived to target the key result areas to help
senior officials in health services strengthen healthcare from the
grass root level and beyond.
Twenty-five delegates holding eminent positions as healthcare
administrators in different states viz. Assam, Tripura, West Bengal,
Odisha, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar
Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh are attending this
programme.
The Chief Guest, Ms. Vini Mahajan, deliberated upon the challenges in
the current health scenario. She highlighted the need for optimal
utilization of resources available in the country and the need for all
to share their experiences to broaden the perspectives and approach
towards better healthcare delivery in the society. She emphasized
that participants should avail this opportunity to take to their
respective state ideas which can contribute to positive change in the
health scenario and suggested that even a single innovation can lead
to a monumental effect in the long run.
Prof. Y.K. Chawla applauded the efforts of the Department of Hospital
Administration, PGIMER for taking the initiative to organize such a
programme to promote applied leadership amongst the officials who have
been given the momentous task of leading healthcare administration in
their respective states.
Prof. A.K. Gupta exhorted the participants to utilize the opportunity
for sharing knowledge to contribute towards larger societal good.
