Vishal Mishra, reviewed the randomization of micro observers & polling
staff for SAS Nagar, Kharar & Dera Bassi constituencies, which was
conducted in the presence of District Electoral Officer Tejinder Pal
Singh Sidhu at District Administrative Complex, SAS Nagar.
Explaining about the security measure in regard to elections on 30
April, Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that a close monitoring of each &
every polling booth will be done & to facilitate the smooth
functioning of election procedure micro observers will be deputed.
Micro observers will be present on respective polling booths from 6.00
am and after mock polling, the actual polling will be started from
7.00 am in their presence & they will be present whole day till the
completion of polling. Tejinder Pal Singh further Sidhu said that
there are 688 polling booths in the district, out of which 122 are
hyper sensitive & 231 are sensitive, which will be under strict
monitoring of the administration. Live web casting of 21 critical
sensitive polling booths will be done in this regard. Tejinder Pal
Singh Sidhu said that relevant training like procedure & functioning
of EVMs & sending information through SMS etc. have already been
imparted to poling staff. He said that as per directions of Election
Commission, to facilitate the voters, Super Model & Model polling
booths have been set up in the district. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu
said that, for the first time district administration has distributed
the invitation card to voters to motivate them for voting exercise. He
said that Boot Level Officers are going door to door for distributing
the voter slips. He said that district administration under SVEEP
Program has organized many programs to motivate the voters for casting
their votes. Election Observer expressed his satisfaction for the
security measures & other arrangements for smooth functioning of
election process.
