Protection of Rights For The Persons & Childs With Autism Is Very Essential: Thind

Mohali 13th March:-- To provide protection to the rights of persons with disability is our prime duty as they too are the part of our society. This was stated by additional Deputy Commissioner Parveen Kumar Thind, while he was conducting a meeting to ensure strict implementation of National Trust Act for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities Act, 1999. This meeting was organized by Social Security department, wherein Parveen Kumar Thind addressed the district level committee members of Govt. & non govt officials.

Parveen Kumar Thind said that as per the guidelines of the National Trust Act, Legal Guardianship for Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities is necessary for adults after 18 years, so that to they could get their bank accounts & protection to their rights could be ensured. He said that Legal Guardianship certificates are being issued by District Social Security Officer at district level. He said that the objective of this act is to enable and empower persons with disability to live as independently and as fully as possible within and as close to the community to which they belongs to. As per this act Committee provides Legal Guardianship at their level.
