Mohali 04th February:-- Lawrence Public School, Mohali celebrated festival of Basant Panchmi with fun & frolic while preaching humanity to its students and residents in innovative manner with members of Rotary Club, Chandigarh. Almost 150 students of the school and members of rotary club appealed residents to donate the blood to serve the humanity. Besides, slogans related to donating blood were also written on the kites to inspire people of Tricity. A Blood Donation corner was also set up to apprise the students on the importance of donating blood.
Principal Veena Malhotra, while speaking on this festival said that people still fear with the idea of donating blood, although they know that their little effort might save precious life. She further added that the festival is celebrated at the closure of winter to welcome spring season and is celebrated by all religion by flying kites and wearing yellow dresses and to mark the same. Kite flying completion was also organized at school, in which almost 150 students participated.At that very moment where some students enjoyed flying other enjoyed cheering them .Winners of flying kites competition were also awarded with the prizes.
Later, Goddess Saraswati was also worshiped and students were also told the importance of the festival. After that, junior students were also imparted methods of flying kites. A cultural program was also organized at the school in Campus and Folk Dance of Punjab Bhangra was main attraction of the show.
