Chandigarh 01st February:---- The Department of Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), organized a three day specialized e-Governance Training Programme on Government Process Re-engineering for the officials of Chandigarh Administration. The objective of the training was to sensitize the officials on Re –engineering the Government Processes. The training gave the participants an overview of Process Maps, collection of data for Process Mapping, addressing the challenges in Re-engineering Government Process.
27 officials from various departments including Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Education Department, Finance Department, Excise & Taxation Dept, Dept of Higher Education, Police Dept, Municipal Corporation, Deputy Commissioner Office, Registering & Licensing Authority, NIC, Tourism Dept, Estate Office, Treasury Dept, Dept of Food & Supply, attended this first of its kind training program.It is expected that the sessions covered during the three day training would help the participants in optimizing the processes for delivery of various services, and also minimize process complexity, cost and service delivery time.
Mrs. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary IT stated that the Government Process Re-engineering play a very important role in transforming the traditional delivery of public services into electronic delivery of these services. She further stated that efficient delivery of services in electronic form largely depends on how well has the processes pertaining to that service have been re-engineered. She further added that the Department of I.T., is implementing e-Governance projects like Service Delivery Gateway, e-District etc which aim to provide over 100 services to the citizens electronically. Endeavour is to simultaneously create such capacities in human resources of various departments as may stand them in good stead when some e-Governance projects come up for implementation in these departments. This training on Government Process Re-engineering would go long way in enabling the roll out of e-services.
