Chandigarh 08th October: --- The members of the Thalassaemic Children Welfare Association, Chandigarh (Regd.) express their deep shock at the passing away of the Dr. J. G. Jolly, Former Head, Dept. of Blood Transfusion, PGI, Chandigarh and also founding father of Blood Bank Society, PGI, Chandigarh, on 5th October 2013.

While paying their tributes,  the members of the association said that  Dr. Jolly was not only the motivator for the formation of this association in 1987, which is looking after the medical treatment of 414 Thalassaemics at present, but was also an architect for framing a policy for free supply of blood to thalassaemia affected children, without insisting for replacement donors, because blood transfusion is a Life Line for these children, who need blood transfusion after every 2-3 weeks throughout their lives for leading a normal healthy lives. Even after his retirement, he continued to be a great source of inspiration for the association. He never missed to attend the blood donation camps organized by the association during the past 15 years and showered his blessing on the ailing children and also interacted and exhorted the voluntary blood donors for promoting the blood donation movement with more zeal. The departure of this loving and fatherly figure is a great loss to this association. His endearing personality, warm and ever smiling nature will always remain a fond memory with all of us. While expressing our sympathy and grief to the bereaved family, the members of the association pray to the almighty for granting eternal peace to the departed soul.
