Law Students Association Organise An interactive session on ‘LL.B and Beyond’

Chandigarh 14th October:---  Law Students' Association (LSA), organized 'LL.B and Beyond' –  an interactive session between Legal Experts and students who have just graduated with law degrees from colleges in the region. LSA also introduced different features of its website www.l-s-a.org which was launched on the occasion. The website has law student friendly aspects like an Anti Ragging helpline, upcoming events in the legal field, Cover and CV writing skills, free legal aid for poor litigants. The panelist who participated included Dr Anmol Rattan Sidhu, President, Adv Rohit Kapoor, Adv Rajat Gautam(Member Bar Council, Punjab and Haryana) and Adv Puneet Thukral among others

 

According to Gurkirpal Singh Gill, President, LSA, that Studying and practicing law has modernized manifolds since past few years, be it introduction of new subjects like competition law, consumer law, IPR, company law, environmental law, or moot court culture and law conferences etc. In the wake of increasing competition and modern concepts of law, we at LSA were of the opinion that law students of the region need to be given greater exposure to these new dimensions of law."

                   

 Advocate Prabhjit Singh who is an expert in Corporate law and runs a firm Evaluer in Chandigarh, gave his insights on the growing opportunity for lawyers in corporate firms. He said in his address that lawyers were needed to advise corporate firms on aspects like private equity, venture capital investment agreements and their drafting. FDI was another area where legal expertise comes in handy and here again agreements of joint ventures etc are to be drafted and lawyers are needed. Apart from corporate law areas like new aspects of litigation, new jobs available for law officers etc were also discussed.
