Chandigarh 12th July:--Director General, State Transport, Haryana, Arun Kumar suggested to constitute a joint committee of Haryana Roadways officers and representatives of HR Workers Union to ascertain whether the challan by Delhi Police was appropriate or not. The Committee would see the challaning and videograph it for this purpose.

Arun Kumar gave these suggestions in a meeting with Haryana Roadways Workers Union, in a response to the demand of Union that Government should bear the cost of the challans of account of rash driving, over-speeding, wrong parking and all other violations of traffic rules by drivers in Delhi.

He said that it was not possible to meet the demand of the employees Union that challans by Delhi Police for various violations be paid by the State Government and not by the driver concerned. He said that the State Government cannot encourage violation of traffic rules and therefore, acceptance of demand was not possible. He said  that safe driving was  a pre-condition of the driving license which needed to be obeyed.

Arun Kumar suggested that a corpus fund be created by the Haryana Roadways Employees by contributing one day's salary for payment of excessive challans by Delhi Police. In case of defiance by the workers union and misbehavior with travelling public by Haryana Roadways Staff, strict action would be taken against them, added Arun Kumar.
