Chandigarh, Dec.29, 2025:-Skipper cum opener Manan Vohra's splendid century went in vain as Chandigarh suffered a six-wicket defeat against a strong Bengal side in their Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite Group match played at Rajkot on Monday.
Bengal won the toss and opted to field as Chandigarh posted a competitive total of 319 in 48.2 overs. Manan Vohra led from the front with a magnificent knock of 122 runs off 127 balls which was studded with nine boundaries and two sixes. He stitched crucial partnerships, notably an 82-run stand with Sanyam Saini.
Later Saini provided late lift with an aggressive 67 off 54 deliveries, including six fours and four sixes while earlier Arjun Azad gave UT boys an early flourish with a brisk 31 off just 18 balls. Despite the solid batting display, Chandigarh lost momentum towards the end by getting bowled out with 10 balls remaining.
For Bengal, Mukesh Kumar (5/59) was the pick of the bowlers who was well supported by Mohammed Shami who picked up three wickets.
In reply, Bengal chased down the target of 320 comfortably by losing four wickets in 47.4 overs. Team's opener Abhishek Porel (106) scored the century while unbeaten Shahbaz scored 76.
