Mohali, Oct.02, 2025:-Is your child constantly on a screen, and is their spectacle power increasing rapidly? If so, this news is crucial for you. Sohana Eye Hospital has inaugurated the region's first dedicated 'Myopia Management Clinic', taking responsibility to combat the rapidly increasing issue of nearsightedness (Myopia) among children and adolescents.
Dr. Amanpreet Kaur, COO and Senior Surgeon, Sohana Hospital, highlighted the urgency, stating that myopia has accelerated in children, especially post-COVID, due to increased mobile phone usage, online classes, and prolonged screen time. She cautioned that once myopia begins, it tends to progress with age and can lead to serious eye diseases if not treated timely.
The clinic's main objective is to 'stop the progression' of vision loss in children, not just 'change the spectacle number.' It will offer advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities to halt the growth of nearsightedness.
Dr. Kaur stressed that Myopia is not just a minor prescription; it is a serious disease that can cause further damage to the eyes later in life. Our new clinic will not only monitor the power but will also utilize a dedicated team of expert doctors, therapists, and modern technologies to stop its progression at the root.
The special clinic will be open every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3 PM to 5 PM. Sohana Hospital, which daily attends to 800-900 patients, has elevated the standard of eye health in North India with this new step.
