AAP’s Strong Protest Against BJP-Run Municipal Corporation and Administration Over Broken Roads, Filth, and Neglected Parks in Dhanas

By 121 News
Chandigarh, October 26, 2025:-Under the leadership of Kuldeep Singh Kuki, State Co-Secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chandigarh, local residents and party workers in Dhanas Milk Colony organized a protest march against the gross negligence of the BJP-led Municipal Corporation and Administration. The participants expressed deep anger over broken roads, accumulated garbage, neglected parks, and the BJP's unfulfilled promises to the people.

Prominent leaders present during the protest included State President Vijaypal Singh, State General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh, State Media Incharge Vikrant A. Tanwar, P.P. Ghai, Harjinder Bawa, Councillor Jasbir Singh  laddi & yogesh dhingra, Lalit Mohan, Des Raj (SC Cell President), Shadab Rathi, Naresh Garg, Dharmyan, Jagmohan, Vijay, Gulshan Verma, Amanpreet, Suresh Jain, Sushil Kumar,  Shishupal, along with several senior leaders and local residents.

State President Vijaypal Singh said that the deplorable condition of Dhanas reflects the BJP's failure, corruption, and arrogance. He mentioned that AAP councillors had previously raised this issue in the Municipal Corporation House, demanding that V5 and V6 roads which directly lead to residential areas be repaired on priority. However, instead of addressing the problem, the BJP Mayor, under political pressure, used marshals to attack AAP councillors, many of whom were injured and dragged out of the House simply for raising public issues.

Vijaypal Singh said that the Mayor is currently enjoying a trip to Dubai after earlier visiting Russia. The question is who is funding these foreign trips? Are they being paid for by taxpayers, the administration, the corporation, or are they privately sponsored for personal gain? Public funds must be spent on fixing roads, sanitation, and essential services, not on foreign tours and luxury indulgences. It's shameful that while Chandigarh's roads are sinking, the Mayor is vacationing abroad.

He further added that it is mandatory to hold a Municipal House meeting every month, but this month's meeting was cancelled because the Mayor was leaving for Dubai. The next session will now take place next month meaning citizens' problems will  remain unresolved for yet another month. This is sheer irresponsibility. Moreover, the sudden removal of the Chief Engineer raises serious questions on whose directions and for what reason was this done? Who will now fix the broken roads? These incidents clearly prove that the BJP-run corporation lacks accountability, and the people of Chandigarh are paying the price for it.

Vijaypal Singh also exposed the BJP's false promises, said that the BJP had assured the residents of Dhanas that Lal Dora would be expanded and that ownership rights would be given to Housing Board allottees. But the people have received nothing so far. This is a 'Government of Show-offs' and 'Government of False Promises' that only remembers the people during elections.

He continued that fhe BJP-led corporation has turned Chandigarh's administration into a mockery. Broken roads, heaps of garbage, clogged drains, and dried-up parks prove that the BJP has no concern for public welfare. The party is only interested in politics, not governance. The people will no longer tolerate this misrule.

Concluding the protest, Vijaypal Singh said that when the voice of the people is silenced inside the House, it becomes our duty to take to the streets. The BJP has turned public service into a game of power and ego. The citizens of Chandigarh will no longer endure this oppression and deceit.

The Aam Aadmi Party warned that if immediate steps are not taken to repair roads, clean the city, and restore basic amenities, the party will launch large-scale protests in every ward of the city.
