Chandigarh, Oct.12, 2025:-The suicide of senior Haryana police officer ADGP Y. Puran Kumar on 7 October 2025 has exposed a deep failure of the administrative system and the severe problem of caste-based discrimination in society. In his final message, he named senior officers accused of mental harassment and undue pressure. This incident also highlights systemic and social injustice against the Scheduled Castes.
ADGP Y Puran Kumar served with integrity and commitment to justice throughout his 30-year police career. His tragic death is not only personal but also indicative of systemic failure and societal discrimination.
In protest of this tragic event and in demand of justice, today the Aam Aadmi Party, Chandigarh, conducted a peaceful but powerful candle march from Aroma Lights Point Chowk, Sector 22. The march was led by Party President Vijaypal Singh. A large number of party leaders, workers, councillors, and citizens participated.
Vijaypal Singh said that this suicide is not just a personal tragedy but a sign of systemic failure. Immediate impartial investigation and action must be taken against the officers named in ADGP Y Puran Kumar's final letter. Conspiracies against the Scheduled Castes will no longer be tolerated.
General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh said that we are not here merely to pay tribute. This is a message that injustice and harassment will no longer be tolerated. Strict action must be taken against the guilty. The administration and government must now take responsibility.
Other leaders who participated in the march included P. Tanwar, State Media Incharge. All lit candles in memory of ADGP Y Puran Kumar and fervently demanded justice.
The party clarified that this candle march is not just a tribute, but a public statement against ongoing injustice toward the Scheduled Castes and society. Caste-based bias and favoritism within the administrative system will no longer be tolerated. The guilty will not be spared.
We especially stand for the safety and respect of Scheduled Caste citizens. Senior officials in the administration should now understand that the public's eyes are open to caste discrimination and bias. This is not just a candle march, but the beginning of a fight for justice and equality across society. We will ensure that injustice against any particular community is never ignored.
Today's march demonstrates that the public is strong in favor of justice. This is not merely a candle march, but the beginning of a mass movement. We will take it to every district and city to put pressure on the government and administration. The killing of ADGP Y Puran Kumar is not just personal, but indicative of systemic failure and injustice against the Scheduled Castes. We will fight at every level to ensure the guilty are punished and justice prevails.
