Chandigarh, Sept.18, 2025: =– On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Councillor Ramchander Yadav held a protest regarding the poor condition of roads, potholes, dilapidated parks, and water leakage issues in homes in his ward. Yadav stated that he ha s repeatedly informed the officials and the Mayor that the roads in his Ward 15, Dhanas, are completely broken, parks are in a dilapidated state, and water is leaking in homes. Yet the administration has not released a single penny to address these issues.
During the proceedings at the Municipal Corporation House, all AAP councillors collectively raised these issues. However, instead of allowing a discussion, the Mayor called the marshals and forcibly removed all AAP councillors from the House. This action sparked widespread anger among the public, who even burned an effigy of the Mayor in protest.
The administration has issued notices to families living in Dhanas who have not paid their rent or installments on time. Interest has been applied, and they were warned that if payment is not made, their houses would be seized by the administration.
AAP President Vijaypal Singh commented on this, said that this action by the administration is completely unjust. Imposing heavy interest and threatening to seize houses of people who have not paid their installments or rent is a direct attack on poor families, who are still recovering from the impact of COVID-19. AAP stands firmly with them and will not allow this to happen under any circumstances.
AAP General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh added that the party will continue to strongly fight for the issues of the public. Until every street and ward is properly maintained and people receive their rights, our protest will continue.
The protest was attended by Ward 15 Dhanas officials, Advocate Khurcha members of the AAP Discipline Committee, AAP leaders, and a large number of AAP workers, who raised a strong voice against the administration's policies.
