Chandigarh, Sept. 06, 2025:- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chandigarh on Saturday dispatched a truckload of relief material to Punjab's flood-affected Fazilka district, one of the worst-hit areas where entire villages remain submerged under nearly 15 feet of water.

The relief consignment was flagged off by Sunny Singh Ahluwalia (Co-Incharge Chandigarh and General Secretary Punjab). Accompanying the convoy to Fazilka were Omkar Singh Aulakh (General Secretary), P. P. Ghai (Convener, Disciplinary Committee), J. D. Ghai (Treasurer), Councillor Ram Chander Yadav, Maloya Youth Leader Abhiman Yadav, Rahul, and State Media In-Charge Vikrant A. Tanwar, who will personally oversee the distribution of relief in the affected villages.

Vijaypal Singh, President of AAP Chandigarh, lauded the spirit of solidarity shown by residents of the city. He said that at a time when our brothers and sisters in Punjab are facing unprecedented hardships, Chandigarh has risen with open hearts. From households to volunteers, everyone has contributed in their own way. This unity is our true strength. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government is working tirelessly to rescue people, provide shelter, and restore normalcy. Together, we will overcome this calamity and rebuild with resilience.

This relief effort transcends religion, caste, and class. Contributions have come from both the rich and the poor. The SC cell and ward heads have made special contributions. Councillors have also made efforts beyond their wards, including Subhan Sharma, Shadab Rathi, Ramchander, Hardeep, Jasbir Ladi, Prem Lata, and Sandeep Dahiya.

State Media In-Charge Vikrant A. Tanwar highlighted that the relief consignment includes over 500 ration kits, 150 Cipladine creams, 150 Odomos packs, a surplus stock of Paracetamol tablets, over 100 torches, 4 cotton boxes, 5 boxes of sanitary pads (48 pieces each), over 200 boxes of small water bottles, and over 100 boxes of large water bottles. To meet long-term needs, it further contains 50+ packets of 5kg Atta, 50+ boxes of candles with matchsticks, five bags of milk powder (25kg each), more than 100 tarpaulins, and over 150 mosquito nets. In addition, the consignment includes 100 footwear, diapers, medicines, and over 1,000 empty cement bags. Two boats have also been arranged to ensure relief reaches villages that remain fully submerged.

General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh expressed gratitude to the people of Chandigarh for their overwhelming contributions. He said that this is just the beginning. We are taking responsibility to deliver these essentials directly to Fazilka and surrounding villages. Our commitment will continue until Punjab fully recovers. Wherever Punjabis live in the world, they have always upheld the tradition of seva (service), and this time is no different.

The AAP Chandigarh leadership emphasized that this campaign is not a one-time gesture but a sustained humanitarian effort. More consignments will follow, ensuring that no family feels alone in this crisis.
