Vijaypal Singh Leads AAP Delegation as Manimajra Residents Denied Water Connections, Meets Municipal Commissioner

By 121 News
Chandigarh, August 21, 2025:-A delegation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), under the leadership of President Vijaypal Singh, along with councillors Anju Katyal, Yogesh Dhingra, Manur, Suman, and (LoP) Jaswinder Kaur,  General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh, and  State Media Incharge Vikrant A Tanwar,  and  Harpreet Singh from manimajra today met the Municipal Commissioner to raise concerns over the non-issuance of new water connections to Manimajra residents.

The delegation highlighted that while sewerage connections are being provided and electricity connections are issued by a separate department, water connections under MC are being denied due to the removal of a key clause from the standard No Objection Certificate (NOC) format. They cited the example of two brothers sharing a house, where the elder brother continues to use the original water connection, while the younger, despite being a legal owner, is left without water supply.

The Water Supply Department has also imposed impractical conditions such as building plan approvals or reinstatement of the old clause, which is not feasible for houses already constructed and occupied for years.

The leaders demanded immediate reinstatement of the entitlement clause for water and sewerage in the NOC, along with clear, citizen-friendly guidelines for inherited or bifurcated properties.

President Vijaypal Singh after submitting the memorandum, said that access to drinking water is a basic necessity, not a privilege. Denying it on technical grounds is unfair and unjustified.
