Chandigarh, August 04, 2025:--The Minority Department of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee today organised three impactful programs under the banner of 'Samvidhan Bachao' (Save the Constitution) at Burail, Manimajra, and Sunder Nagar, Mauli Jagran These events were part of a nationwide initiative by the Indian National Congress to raise awareness about growing threats to the Constitution and to reaffirm commitment to the values of secularism, justice, and equality.
The programs saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, senior Congress leaders, and grassroots workers. People from all communities gathered in large numbers to express their concern over the erosion of democratic norms and the increasing marginalisation of minorities.
H.S. Lucky, President of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee, while addressing the gathering at Manimajra, said that the Constitution of India is the soul of our democracy. It guarantees justice, equality, and liberty to every citizen. The Congress Party will never allow any force to dilute its essence. These 'Samvidhan Bachao' programs are a clarion call to every Indian to rise and defend the idea of India that Dr. Ambedkar and our founding fathers enshrined in the Constitution.
Salim Bhati, In-charge of the Minority Department of Chandigarh Congress, speaking at Burail, stated that minorities across the country are feeling insecure due to rising communal polarisation and targeted policies. Through this campaign, we are not just raising our voice — we are building unity to preserve the democratic ethos of our nation.
Asif Chaudhary, Chairman of the Minority Department, addressing the program at Sunder Nagar, said that our Constitution is under assault. The present regime's actions are systematically weakening institutions, stoking religious divisions, and threatening civil liberties. The Congress party will continue to fight against such divisive politics and protect the rights of every Indian, especially minorities.
The Minority Department of the CPCC announced that such awareness programs will continue in different parts of Chandigarh in the coming weeks. Each event concluded with the reading of the Preamble and a collective pledge to uphold constitutional values.
