Chandigarh, August 04, 2025:-Lucknow Giants emerged as champions of the 6th Deaf Indian Premier League with a commanding 82-run win over Bangalore Badshah in the final held at GMSSS-26 on Monday.
Opting to field first, Bangalore Badshah struggled to contain the explosive batting of unbeaten opener Akash Singh who smashed 83 runs off just 38 balls. Supported by Sharik Majeed (25), Lucknow Giants posted a formidable total of 124/3.
In reply, Bangalore's batting lineup crumbled under pressure. Skipper Deepak Kumar delivered a match-winning bowling performance to claim 4 wickets for just 6 runs. He was well supported by Adithya who took 2 for 1 as Bangalore Badshah were bowled out for mere 42.
Earlier in the day, Bangalore Badshah edged out Hyderabad Eagles in a thrilling first semifinal, winning by just 3 runs, thanks to a quick-fire 40 off 14 balls by Suhail Ahmad.
In the second semifinal, Lucknow Giants (60/4) defeated Punjab Lions (52/2) by 8 runs. Despite a valiant 40 off 21 balls by Punjab skipper Manish Jain, the team fell short in their chase.
Sanjay Tandon, President of the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) graced as the Chief Guest along with Guest of Honour Dolly Singh, Senior Manager, PR, National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC). They were joined by Sumit Jain, President of the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) who felicitated the winning and runner-up teams.
Tandon appreciated the efforts of the Chandigarh Deaf Cricket Association (ICDAC) and assured continued support for the development of deaf cricket in the region.
Jain shared that the four-day tournament featured eight teams — Mumbai Stars, Lucknow Giants, Delhi Bulls, Hyderabad Eagles, Kolkata Warriors, Chennai Blasters, Bangalore Badshah and Punjab Lions. Top-performing players from the tournament will be constituted for the Indian team to represent in upcoming events organized by the Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC), the official deaf cricket body recognized by the ICC.
