Chandigarh, June 15, 2025:--After this, the play "The Blue Umbrella by Ruskin Bond, is a heartwarming story set in a small Himalayan village, following Binya, a young girl who cherishes her beautiful blue umbrella. The umbrella, a rare treasure, stirs both admiration and envy among the villagers, highlighting themes of kindness, contentment, and the simple joys of life.
Binya, a young girl from the Garhwal, in play it mentioned as Punjab region, trades her lucky charm for a beautiful blue umbrella from a tourist. The umbrella becomes her prized possession, but her life takes an unexpected turn when the villagers, particularly a jealous shopkeeper lalaji, react with envy and spread rumors about Binya, heartbroken, initially tries to return the umbrella, but ultimately, the tourist gifts it to her, allowing her to retain her newfound treasure.
The story explores themes of envy, social dynamics in a rural community, and the value of material possessions versus personal emotions.
The fine team behind the success of the play was Kumar Sumitt who adapted, designed and directed the show accompanied by Music Operator- Jatin, Associate Director- Amyra Costume- Aanandita, Property- Samrat and Akshat, Light Design- Kumar Sumitt , Makeup- Jasleen and Teena.
At the end of the program, certificates were given to all the participants and bouquets were presented to both the Gurus.
ICCR Program Director from Delhi, Sanjay Vedi, Registrar of the Kendra, Guru Shobha Koser, Secretary Sajal Koser and Deputy Registrar Dr. Samira Koser graced the occasion.
