Chandigarh, May 27, 2025:--The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee today solemnly observed the death anniversary of India's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, at its party office in Sector 35, Chandigarh. Floral tributes were offered by senior leaders, party workers, and office bearers to commemorate the immense contributions of the visionary leader in the making of modern India.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandigarh Pradesh Congress President H.S. Lucky paid rich homage to Pandit Nehru, describing him as an architect of India's democratic foundations and a beacon of modern thought.
H S Lucky said that Pandit Nehru was a towering figure whose ideals of democracy, secularism, and scientific temper continue to guide the nation even today. His role in laying the institutional framework for a strong, self-reliant India is unparalleled. He said that it was under his leadership that India began its journey as a sovereign republic, with a commitment to pluralism and inclusive growth.
Lucky also urged the younger generation to revisit Nehru's vision and values, especially at a time when the idea of India as envisaged by its founders needs to be preserved and strengthened.
The event concluded with a pledge to uphold the democratic and secular ideals cherished by Pandit Nehru.
