Chandigarh, May 13, 2024:- Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) candidate from Chandigarh parliamentary constituency Manish Tewari today predicted that the alliance will win from the union territory by a record margin that will be all time high in Chandigarh's history.
"With complete synergy between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party workers and leaders in Chandigarh, we will win with a record margin". Tewari said during an interaction here today, asserting, "take it in writing, INDIA will win the Chandigarh seat by a margin of at least one lakh votes".
Quoting the figures of the last Municipal Council elections held in December 2021, when the combined vote share of the Congress and AAP was 58 percent, compared to 27 percent of the BJP, the INDIA candidate said, the BJP stands nowhere near the striking distance.
When told that the MC elections are different from the parliamentary elections, Tewari retorted, "that is precisely what I mean to say that while we got 58 percent vote share together in the MC elections, we will take it beyond 60 percent this time as parliamentary elections are completely a different ballgame than the MC elections".
Expressing confidence over a comfortable and landslide victory, the former union minister said, people of Chandigarh will feel the difference in working of different MPs the moment results are out. "Once elected, I have a proven track record that wherever I work, I give my hundred percent", he said, while remarking, "politics with a mission to serve the people has always been my motto".
Earlier in the morning, Tewari met scores of people from Chandigarh at his Sector-4 ancestral house. He expressed gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support that has added to his confidence.
Tewari also paid obeisance at the Nirankari Mission and took the blessings from there.
Rs one lakh for every poor family
Last evening, while addressing a public meeting in Ward No: 5, Manimajra, Tewari reiterated his party's guarantees to provide Rs one lakh to every poor family every year and a guaranteed job for fresh graduates and diploma holders in the first year with an assured income of Rs one lakhs. The meeting was organised by Gurcharan Das Kala.
Tewari was accompanied by senior alliance leaders including Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky and AAP co-incharge for Chandigarh, SS Ahluwalia and others.
