Chandigarh, Oct.28, 2023:-Nitin Rathore, the resident of Zirakpur will represent India in the FIDE's World Amateur Chess Championship organized by World Chess Federation to be held from 1st to 10th November at Muscat (Oman), In a communication from the organizer – Oman Chess Committee to the player and the association has invited Nitin to participate in the nine-round championship at this global event. The basis of Nitin's qualification was his excellent performance in the National Chess Championship held in February 2023 this year which not only improved his rating but also secured a place for FIDE's international arenas.
Nitin said that he is eager to participate in the event which will help in further improving his rating. Earlier, he has represented the country in the World Varsity Championship held in Malaysia, Sri Lanka Open at Colombo and Bangkok Open held at Bangkok.
Along with being an Arbiter and Chess Development Instructor appointed by FIDE, Nitin is providing coaching to many national and international level players under Chess Mantra Academy. Nitin and his sister Shweta are also certified coaches of the Punjab University Chess Team designated by the Sports Department (PU)
Nitin, along with his mother (Anita Prasad – International Player), father (Baijnath Prasad, International FIDE Rated Chess Player) and sister (Shweta Rathore, former Women Chess Champion – Punjab), has been dedicated to his chess career over the last three decades.
Due to this commitment of the Rathore family dedicated to chess, they also got the opportunity to play 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' contest with Amitabh Bachchan on Hot Seat.
