Chandigarh Dec.20, 2021:- Kuldeep Singh Rathore, President Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee appealed to voters of Chandigarh to overwhelmingly vote for Congress in the ensuing elections to Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan here on Monday, Rathore stated that the Modi government was forced to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel after their resounding defeat in Himachal Pradesh by-elections. The fear of electoral defeat also forced the Modi government to take black farm laws back. Earlier the government did not relent despite the fact that about 750 farmers lost their lives during their yearlong agitation. The HP Congress President also lambasted the AAP Government in Delhi for helping Modi government by passing one of the three farm laws in Delhi Assembly last year.

Rathore who has lived in Chandigarh for many years, lamented the miserable civic conditions in the city due to rampant corruption that prevailed in the corporation during last six years.

Congress spokesperson Rajiv Sharma termed the recent promise of the BJP that they will improve the "Happiness index" of Chandigarh as misleading and false. When the happiness index of India is falling sharply and continuously as per a UN report, how will the local BJP reverse the trends in Chandigarh.

Rajinder Rana Coordinator AICC expressed confidence that the Chandigarh voters of Himachali origin are going to vote overwhelmingly in favour of Congress.
