91-Yr Man with Multiple Comorbidities Beat Covid

Chandigarh Nov. 03, 2020:- A 91-yr old male suffering from severe Covid Bilateral Pneumonia with lung fibrosis and multiple comorbidities has beaten Covid-19 successfully. The elderly from Ropar district was discharged from Ivy Super Speciality Hospital after 20-day long admission at the hospital.

Giving information, Dr. Suresh Goyal, senior consultant of pulmonary and sleep medicine at Ivy Hospital, Mohali said that the patient was admitted to Ivy Hospital's emergency with complaints of breathlessness, fever,  cough, and body aches. He has prostate cancer from the past 5-yr, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) from the last 20-yr, and high blood pressure problem as well.

Dr. Suresh Goyal informed that upon admission his COVID antigen test was found positive following which he was kept in isolation ward. On the 3rd of his hospital stay, his blood parameter got worsened and he developed severe breathlessness with respiratory failure. He was shifted to RICU where he was given high flow oxygen and antiviral besides supportive treatments.

Dr Suresh said that he remained critical for 10-day while was being given steroids and non-invasive ventilator for his recovery. On the 12th day his condition started improving with decrease in Oxygen requirements   and Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BIPAP) support.

Dr. Suresh informed that on 18th day, he started feeling better, eating well and maintaining blood oxygenation without oxygen. Following which he was shifted to ward and discharged in satisfactory condition.
