Chandigarh August 01, 2020:- Desh Bhagat University observed 81st Martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham, a well known freedom fighter from Punjab.
Dr. Varinder Singh, Advisor to the Chancellor, informed about his life story. He said," The freedom fighter is known for the assassination of Michael O' Dwyer as retaliation at Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. He was martyred on 31st July 1940 and since then the day is observed as Martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh."
Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor Desh Bhagat University and Pro Chancellor Dr. Tejinder Kaur paid their obeisance to the warrior and said that Shaheed Udham Singh waited for 21 years to revenge the massacre at Jallianwala Bagh, thus laid the foundation of freedom of the nation. His patriotism and sacrifice will continue to inspire generations.
Dr. Shalini Gupta, Vice Chancellor Desh Bhagat University and directors of various schools paid reverence to the great warrior.
Dr. Sandeep Singh, Vice President, paid homage to the great revolutionary and said that the sacrifice of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country can never be forgotten.
