'Kala Samwad'-An Interactive Online Session with Eminent Sculptor & Academician Shri Adwaita Gadanayak by Chitkara University

Chabdigarh June 27, 2020:-Dept. of Fine Arts, Chitkara School of Art & Design, Chitkara University, Punjab organized 'Kala Samwad' _ An Interactive Online Session with Shri Adwaita Gadanayak, an eminent Sculptor, Academician and Administrator.

Shri Gadanayak is the first Director General of National Gallery of Modern Art New Delhi, one of the most important cultural heritage of Independent India and an autonomous centre for Art and Culture under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. 

Shri Gadanayak is a renowned name in International Art Scenario who have created many sculptural masterpieces in different mediums like Stone, Metal and Mixed media including his recent masterpiece National Police Memorial and also founded School of Sculpture at KIITS, University among his other involvements. The one hour long session was highly engaging and interactive. Shri Gadanayak has shared his journey as an Artist with the audiences and spoken about the importance of Nature as a Teacher, Guide and Healer in the life of an Artist. During the session Shri Gadanayak has shared various episodes of his life as an Artist, Academician and Administrator and He has taken inspiration from Nature and Surrounding and developed his own Artistic vision.

During the question answer session The students and Faculty members have asked questions such as importance of material in Sculpture, or how the teaching pedagogies should adopt new technologies during the period of lockdown, How the concept of Art Adda have evolved at NGMA with a direct involvement of Masses. Shri Gadanayak has also appreciated the initiatives taken by Chitkara University in the promotion of Art & Culture and the future projects like Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden inside the University Premises. Shri Gadanayak has also invited the Students of Chitkara University to the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi and promised that he will personally welcome and Interact with Chitkara Students any time they will Visit. The session concluded with Vote of Thanks from Department of Fine Arts, Chitkara School of Art & Design, Chitkara University, Punjab.
