‘Punjab Cultural Mission’ Established to Connect Youth With Rich Heritage & Create Robust Society

Chandigarh 01st August:- The Punjab Kala Parishad today transformed into reality the dream of the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu to have a cultural parliament. The Parishad today established 'Punjab Cultural Mission' with the aim to connect the youth with the extremely rich and glorious cultural heritage of Punjab. The decision was taken here today at Punjab Kala Bhawan at sector-16 in a meeting of intellectuals presided over by the Chairman of the Punjab Kala Parishad Padamshri Dr. Surjit Patar. The responsibility of being the Director of the mission has been entrusted to noted singer Pammi Bai.

Disclosing this, an official spokesman said that the Punjab Cultural Mission would work from the level of the headquarter to the village level so as to connect the youth with the rich cultural and historical heritage of Punjab. The mission has 14 members hailing from the art, cultural and literary fields. The members include Dr. Surjit Patar, Secretary General of the Punjab Kala Parishad Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal, noted choreographer Principal Inderjit Singh, Senior Journalist Satnam Singh Manak, noted actor Gurpreet Ghuggi, famous singer Sukhi Brar, Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Dr. Jasbir Kaur Rishi, Ninder Ghugianvi, Dr. Surjit (Patiala), Dr. Gursewak Lambi (Patiala), Yadwinder Sidhu and Ashok Bansal.

The spokesman further said that the main aim of the mission to start such a strong renaissance in Punjab which would boost the healthy and moral traditions of the society besides connecting youth with fine arts, and moral values . The mission would cover all the villages in the state through appointment of the district level convenors.
