Chandigarh 28th June:- An Android based app called 'Watch-out' was today launched at Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27. This Android based mobile app has been developed by Webmob Information Systems. This Mobile app will alert the drivers 500 meters before they approach accident prone areas popularly called as Black Spots.
Addressing media persons, Nitin Gupta, CEO of Webmob Information systems said that black spots all over the tricity are responsible for numerous deaths in Tricity. He said that this app will help in reducing number of deaths at black spots identified by concerned authorities of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. As per information provided by the authorities, there are 15 black spots in Chandigarh, around 20 in Mohali and 7 in Panchkula. So if we count the total black spots in tricity the number comes out to be 42.
Nitin said that with the launch of this app initially at least 10-20 percent fatalities would come down. He further added that this android app can be downloaded free of cost from Google play store and is integrated with Google maps. When the person will approach 500 meters near the black spot, he will get a voice prompt cautioning him about the possible danger area. The app once started will run in the background.
He further said that the company has plans to launch this app all over India in coming months. He further added Watch-out is designed to keep people safe on roads by warning them about accident prone spots and areas
