Chandigarh 08th June:- Continuing its drive to promote awareness about Organ Donation, Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) PGI in collaboration with Shri Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust organised its fourth awareness session alongside blood donation camp at the Bhunga Sahib Gurudwara, village Majri, Panchkula.
The camp was organised to mark the martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev and in all 32 people donated blood and 48 pledged organ donation at the camp.
Ms Simmi B Sumbria and Ms Nilakshi, Transplant Coordinators from Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) PGI counseled the sangat at the Gurudwara about the cause of Organ Donation.
Urging them to come forward to contribute to this noble cause, Ms Sumbria said that Guru Arjan Dev sacrificed his life to uphold the values of humanism and universal brotherhood. In the same vein, blood or organ donation is a way of following Guru's teachings in true sense.
Ms Nilakshi addressed the myths and misconceptions of people pertaining to organ donation and reiterated it as 'true gift of life.'
Detailing about the vision of the Trust, Subhash Gupta, Chairman, Shri Shiv Kanwar Mahasangh Charitable Trust, said that in line with the teachings of Guru Arjan Dev, community service has been the key mandate of the Trust and there cannot be better service than giving someone a fresh lease of life through blood or organ donation.
This blood & organ donation awareness drive will continue with the next camp being organised at Aggarwal Sabha, Manimajra on Friday, 10th June, 2016.
