Economics Planning and Statistical Development Celebrates Statistics Day

Mohali 29th June:- In recognition of notable contribution made be Late Prof. Prasanta Chandra Mahanalobis in the fields of Economics Planning and Statistical Development, Regional office Mohali of National Sample Survey Office, Government of India having its jurisdiction in Punjab State celebrated "Statistics Day at Hotel Town's Pride, Sector 64, Phase 9 mohali.

The Government of India has designated 29th June every year to earmark the Birthday of Late Prof P.C. Mahanalobis, as the "Statistics day" in the category of Special Day to be celebrated across the country.

The objective of the day is to create public awareness, especially among the younger generation about the role of statistics in socio-economic planning and policy formulation. The theme for the Statistics Day 2016 is "Agriculture and Farmers" Welfare.

The function will be presided by the Chief Guest Mohan Lal Sharma, Economic Advisor, Department of Economics & Statistics, Government of Punjab and jasbir Singh Bains, Director, Agriculture Department, Government of Punjab, Tirath Singh, Director, DES Punjab and Reji Bhuvendram, Assistant Director, Labour Bureau, Government of India will be the Guests of Honor. On the occasion, a Seminar will be held on the theme of the Statistics Day 2016.
