Glaucoma Support Group and Advanced Eye Center organizes Glaucoma Walk

Chandigarh 06th March:- Glaucoma Support Group, Advanced Eye Center organized a very successful walk today morning.  Over 250 people walked from the Rock Garden to Sukhna Lake to spread awareness about glaucoma. Professor Amod Gupta, former head Advanced Eye Center, Prof. Jagat Ram, HOD Advanced Eye Center, Dr. Neelam Mannsing an eminent theater personality, Dr. Ram Kumar a leading practitioner and well know proponent of ethics in medicine led the walk. The Glaucoma walk was organized on the occasion of the World Glaucoma Week, which is observed every year in the second week of March to increase public awareness about glaucoma. Glaucoma afflicts about 12-13million people in India. It is estimated that about 90% of people with glaucoma in our country remain undiagnosed.

  1. A second leading cause of blindness in India is Glaucoma. In Glaucoma optic nerve of eye is harm and in pressure. Which eventually cause loss of vision so it is always advisable to get the treatment of glaucoma always on time.
