Surinder Verma Re-Elected Chairman of NGO Citizens Awareness Group

Chandigarh 28th December:- Surinder Verma has been re-elected chairman of the NGO Citizens Awareness Group, Chandigarh. He was the unanimous choice for the post at the general body meeting of the Group held at the Chandigarh Press Club on Sunday to coincide with its foundation day.

Surinder Verma was the founding chairman of the Group incepted on December 27, 1994, and has held this post since then. He is also associated with the Consumer Coordination Council, International Human Rights Council, Public Relations Council of India, Pakistan-India Forum for Peace and Democracy, Chandigarh Management Association, Delhi Management Association, besides many other service organisations.

Other office bearers elected are Deepak Dhingra (Vice Chairman), Lalit Bajaj (General Secretary), Shikha Nijhawan (Joint Secretary), Om Prakash (Finance Secretary), Manjit Kaur (Executive Secretary), Dr. Meena Sharma (Cultural Secretary), Rakesh Malhotra (Organising Secretary), Veena Dhingra (Press Secretary) and Ramesh Dogra (Auditor). The governing council members are Rajpreet Kaur, Rajnish Dhawan, Urvashi Sharma, Rajni Kesar and Pratap Thakur.

Later, in an open session, Ajay Garg, President, Chandigarh Chapter of International Human Council, spoke on rights as enshrined in the Act. Naveen Malhotra spoke on consumer rights. An absorbing discussion followed, and the panellists addressed all queries put forward by members.
